  8. How to Apply an Effect in Quicktime Player Pro or Movie Player Pro
  9. Applying an effect is simple! You can do it with Apple's Movie Player Pro (or the newer Quicktime Player Pro), which can be purchased from Apple at their web site (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/). Many other Quicktime programs also allow you to apply an effect to your movies in a similar manner. If you're using another application, see the owner's manual for detailed instructions on how to apply effects.

  11. Choosing an Effect
  12. 1) To apply an effect to a movie, first open the movie in Movie Player Pro.

  14. 2) From the "File" menu, select "Export‚Ķ". (If this option is not available, then you are not using the "Pro" version of Movie Player or Quicktime Player. See Apple's website for details on upgrading to the "Pro" version.)

  16. 3) You will be presented with a Standard File dialog box that looks something like this:

  42. 4) You will be presented with the "Options" dialog box, which looks like this:

  76. 5) You will be presented with the "Choose Video Filter‚Ķ" dialog box, which looks like this:

On the left are all of the effects available to you. Many come with Quicktime 3, while others, like the Effects Pack #2, were created by 3rd party developers. Click on "Mosaic" to select the Mosaic filter. (If you do not see "Mosaic" in the list, check to make sure you have installed the Effects Pack #2 in your Extensions folder inside your System Folder.) The Mosaic filter will turn your movie clip into tiles of solid color.

  100. 6) Adjust the "Tile Size" slider to see how it affects the movie.

  102. 7) When you are done adjusting the parameters, click the "OK" button.

  104. 8) You will again see the "Options" dialog box. Choose any other settings you need, and click the "OK" button.

  106. 9) You will again see the Save File dialog box. Name your movie and click "OK". Your movie will be exported. You can then open it up and play it back to see the effect!
